The Einstein Probe space telescope detected a rapidly changing X-ray source designated EP250702a on July 2, 2025. The event is believed to be an intermediate-mass black hole consuming a white dwarf star. The source reached a peak luminosity of 3 x 10^49 erg s-1, making it one of the brightest outbursts recorded.
