NASA is testing the Crew Medical Officer Digital Assistant (CMO-DA) for deep-space medical support. The system uses open-source tools to run LLMs and VLMs locally without Earth connectivity. Currently being tested on a terrestrial twin of the ISS Spaceborne Computer.
