The Rent Guidelines Board voted 7-1 to freeze rents for approximately one million stabilized apartments. The freeze applies to one- and two-year leases signed between Oct. 1, 2026, and Sept. 30, 2027. Mayor Zohran Mamdani hailed the decision as a major political victory.
