Hierodula tenuidentata and Hierodula patellifera have been formally designated as Invasive Alien Species in Europe. The species are expanding northward due to climate change and urban heat islands. They threaten native biodiversity by preying on pollinators and small vertebrates, and outcompeting native mantis species.
