"Sri Lanka has banned the purchase and use of single-use plastic water bottles in all government institutions effective May 31. The directive aims to reduce plastic pollution and encourage reusable alternatives. The government is also planning amendments to the National Environmental Act to strengthen extended producer responsibility."
