Oxford University begins clinical trials for Bundibugyo Ebola vaccine
Oxford University has administered the first dose of a vaccine targeting the Bundibugyo strain of Ebola. The outbreak in DRC and Uganda has caused over 1,270 deaths and nearly 3,000 infections since May. The vaccine candidate was developed in eight weeks using technology similar to the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine. WHO warns that the actual number of cases could be twice as high due to conflict-related access issues.
